Approach

Kate’s approach is integrative, combining a variety of counseling techniques to meet each client’s specific needs while staying grounded in humanistic psychology. Kate focuses on cognitive behavioral approaches combined with mindfulness and emotion regulation skill building to help individuals identify, understand, and change unhelpful or disruptive thinking, behaviors, and communication. Play therapy is utilized with children to help them express their feelings within a natural, self-guided process. Motivational interviewing helps those who are stuck in ambivalence to build motivation for change.
